Introduction

Overview

The 2019 ASEAN-Republic of KOREA Commemorative Summit will take place in Busan, Korea from November 25 to 26 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the dialogue partnership between ASEAN and the Republic of Korea. It will be the biggest international conference the ROK hosts under the Moon Jae-in administration.

The ROK hosted two Commemorative Summits with ASEAN in Jeju and Busan in 2009 and 2014, respectively. This year’s Commemorative Summit, held in Busan, will be the third of its kind. Among ASEAN’s dialogue partners, Korea is the only country which will have hosted all three Commemorative Summits with ASEAN in its own country. This is a testament to the cordial relations that ASEAN and the ROK have built over the last thirty years.
